ARCESE AND THE "ASSOCIAZIONE SPAGNOLLI-BAZZONI ONLUS" WORK TOGETHER AGAINST HIV
New important initiatives for women and children's health in Zimbabwe confirm Arcese’s social commitment.
Arcese’s commitment to social justice continues thanks to the collaboration with the "Associazione Spagnolli-Bazzoni Onlus” (non-profit organisation) for the care and support of women and children affected by HIV in Zimbabwe.
The Spagnolli Center for women’s health in Harare, founded in 2005, has treated more than 700 patients and their families thanks to a pioneering healthcare network, divided between the centre and the neighbouring areas. It is here, in fact, that 21% of women aged 15 to 49 are affected by the disease. There are many services offered to women and children: from food aids to professional courses, from education to socialisation and drug administration. In addition, among the superior health care services provided are anti-viral therapies, free tests and HIV counselling, as well as screening and cryotherapy for cervical cancer.
The project has an ambitious and well-defined goal: to strengthen the health support of women and children affected by HIV, increasing the quality of care and cultural growth of communities, to educate socially stigmatised mothers in order to face the pandemic and reduce the number of orphaned and abandoned children. A goal that has prompted Arcese to acquire knowledge with the Spagnolli-Bazzoni Foundation, ensuring Harare’s centre funding to actively contribute to reducing mortality and improving health conditions for as many women affected by the disease as possible.
A project, therefore, that is particularly important, as reaffirmed by the President of the Group Matteo Arcese, who states: “We strongly believe in this initiative and consider women as the starting point for an action that can bring benefits to the entire family in terms of care and prevention, as well as the social fabric as a whole. An initiative we are proud to be part of.” The president of the “Associazione Spagnolli-Bazzoni”, Giuliano Tasini, thanks Arcese for the support and boost for the future: “We believe that collaboration with those accustomed to building spreads needed goodwill, because those in trouble can make their way in serenity”.
