Over 28 tons of door-to-door shipment from Italy to Michigan handled for a customer in the automotive sector
In April, Ventana Serra concluded an important order for the client Persico Spa, Italian multinational leading company in the production of moulds and plants in the automotive sector.
Ventana Serra managed the door-to-door shipment from Italy to the USA of 12 wooden cases – 4 of which are non-standard due to their width and height – with a total weight of 28 tons and a volume of about 160 cubic metres. The cases contained a production line for components used for air conditioning systems for the automotive sector.
The goods were picked up at the customer’s production plant and shipped on a Cargolux flight from Milan Malpensa airport to Chicago in accordance with the customer’s requirements in terms of delivery times and handling of the goods.
A very challenging expedition to manage that was also “delicate”, given that the transport operations took place during the lock-down period established to deal with the current health emergency. In order to complete the order, the operating personnel involved were guaranteed all the necessary security measures and devices, and special permits were required to deliver the goods to the recipient company, which was reopened in order to receive the delivery.
The order also required careful planning of transport and shipping activities and saw the collaboration of the Ventana Serra Sales and Operations team in Italy with colleagues from the company under the same name in the USA, who specifically handled the shipment until its delivery to its final destination in Plymouth (Michigan) to the recipient, a manufacturer of components for the automotive industry which specifically include elements for car/commercial vehicle air conditioning systems.
The customer was very satisfied with the work done and the efficiency of the service offered; Silvano Cavallotto – General Manager of Ventana Serra – commented as follows: “By choosing Ventana Serra, the customer has focused on the reliability and quality of our services. I would like to thank the team that contributed towards achieving this result for their excellent planning and teamwork”.
